Thank you to the following sponsors:

  • Therm-o web DECOFOIL™ Transfer Sheets: purple
  • DECOFOIL™ Liquid Adhesive
  • Plaid folkArt® HOME DECOR chalk paint ( in Sheepskin #34879)
  • Testors yellow enamel spray
  • FairfieldWorld Oly*fun™ fabric sheets in various colours, and metallics
  • IMAGINEcrafts Tear It! Tape
  • Sakura Micron pen – black

I love how easily the Plaid chalk paint went on the surface. I also used some of the Mixed media Color Spray

REALLY taking recycling to the next level! I took the remnant Oly*fun® and used it as a stencil! It worked perfectly 🙂

I started by painting some of the surface with the chalk paint, let it dry, and then added some splashes of yellow spray paint. I hurried up the drying with a hair blower.

Next I used Sizzix Flowers#7 die and cut out some lovely flowers from pieces of Oly*fun®.

I used the remnant of the Oly*fun® as a stencil and first daubed green acrylic paint, let it dry, and then sprayed the white colour spray to create an added pretty sheen .

I lightly daubed some DecoFoil adhesive on a few spots and added a lovely highlight of purple flecks.

Add brads, attach flowers with adhesive, and your gift bag is complete!

Fun Foilicious Frame

Let’s welcome Spring with this Fun Foilicious Frame!featured on favecrafts

What fun! I really enjoyed working on this project, designed specifically for Prime Publishing featuring many of the manufacturer sponsors who generously sent us product to work with after the CHA MegaShow in January..Fun Foilicious Frame

I am pleased to feature products from:

Fun Foilicious Frame

“Before” — I think it’s pretty great for only $1. Look at all the detail! The whole thing has to be covered, though. The detail might look gold but it’s this funky yellowy colour.

I used Plaid folkArt® HOME DECOR chalk paint ( in Sheepskin #34879) to cover my frame, including the sides. I’m really impressed with how easy it was to apply, and with zero prepping on my part. I probably could have gotten away with only one coat, but I waited for the first coat to dry, then gave it a second coat. I’m thrilled with the matte results!

Using the iCraft® DECO FOIL™ Liquid Adhesive, I covered the places on the frame I wanted to highlight with colour. Once it was tacky, I applied gold and purple transfer sheets.

TIP – Sometimes it is hard to see where you put the glue once it has dried. I gently feel the surface for tacky spots: If it’s tacky, it needs more foil.

Next I used my Cuttlebug and Sizzix die to cut out my beautiful flowers from sheets of Oly*fun™, including metallics. I was not prepared for how effortlessly the flowers popped out. The Oly*fun continues to amaze me. ( I only started working with it this month).

Fun Foilicious FrameTo finish my Fun Foilicious Frame, I assembled the flowers with pretty brads in the centre to hold them in place. I then covered the exposed metal (in the back) with Tear It! Tape (double-sided adhesive for multi-surface use) from IMAGINEcrafts – PERFECT for my project! The flowers are very secure.

Notice the beautiful touches of purple and gold 🙂 … and the tulip is pretty, too 🙂

Fun times- Foiled again! 🙂

Powertex and Foil Ballerina

I am sharing a beautiful new sculpture with you today: a Powertex and Foil Ballerina!

featured on favecrafts

At the most recent CHA MegaShow, held in January, I was fortunate enough to be selected as a Prime Publishing VIB ( Very Important Blogger)! Lucky me: after the show I was sent a lot of beautiful products from many of the Prime VIB Event sponsors! I have to admit that one of my most favourite ‘new’ products to work with is therm-o-web’s iCraft® DECO FOIL™ transfer sheets.

Powertex and FoilI created my sculpture first; it started as wire, fabric and aluminum, on a wood base. I used Bronze Powertex art medium to ‘paint’ my sculpture. The Bronze is more of a brown colour. I thought adding the DECO FOIL™ would really make it special. I used the following colours: red, gold, and purple.

Powertex and Foil

LOOK at how gorgeous the bodice is; with shocks of gold, red, and purple. It looks like liquid gold was poured on!

Powertex and Foil

The first step in applying the DECO FOIL™ transfer sheet is to apply the DECO FOIL™ Liquid Adhesive to your surface, and let it dry for 1 -2 hours. When it’s ‘dry’, it’s tacky, and the perfect surface to receive the transfer colours!

Powertex and Foil

When the adhesive is tacky (not wet), the colours will easily transfer to the surface (sometimes just by touching it), but usually you will need to do some gentle rubbing.

The foil brought life to my ballerina. What could you add DECO FOIL™ to?
