Powertex and Foil Ballerina Published

My Powertex & Foil Ballerina was published in FaveCraft’s “Best Blogger Craft Ideas 2016: DIY Home Decor, Paper Craft Ideas, Sewing Projects, and Unique DIY Crafts” free eBook

FaveCrafts Best Blogger Craft Ideas 2016

Download the book!  It’s FREE!

Here is an excerpt from the Introduction:

Every January the FaveCrafts team travels to the Craft & Hobby Association Trade Show to not only check out what’s new in the crafting world, but to host one of our favorite events of the year. Our blogger networking party is an event where we invite the best and brightest bloggers to meet some of our favorite companies. These companies generously gift the bloggers product to bring brand new projects to life, entering then into our Best Blogger Craft of 2016 contest. All of these projects are collected into this eBook.

The projects in ‘the book’ were created exclusively for this eBook and our readers. In this book you will find ways to spice up your home, handmade cards to give, sewing projects, and more.

I attended that wonderful networking party and I’ve been waiting months for the book to come out. My Ballerina is on page 40. I wouldn’t have won without the generous support of Therm o Web and their delicious DecoFoil®Powertex and Foil Ballerina

You will enjoy looking at all the other wonderful designers’ work, too.

Powertex Workshop – Seated Figure

The studio was humming today with a Powertex Workshop – the Seated Figure, and I spent my day with the nicest women!

Powertex workshop seated figureAs a matter of fact, I found out today that “I’m worth the drive FROM Acton” !  – Sorry, this is a reference to a leather store IN Acton and their tag line was ‘ It’s worth the drive to Acton’.  We had some travelers today representing the great towns of Acton and Fergus, Ontario. Thank you Marg and Nancy for making the trip! Judy also drove about an hour to get here. Fortunately Sam didn’t have far to drive :).  THANK YOU, Ladies, for such a wonderful day.

This is the Full-day Powertex Seated Figure workshop, from 10 am to 5 pm.

After several hours of work we paused and enjoyed a yummy lunch ( Thank you, Costco 🙂 ) and then worked to complete our sculptures.

I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Wow! The ladies did a splendid job and I think they are all thrilled with their creations; they can be proud of the fact that they made their entire sculpture by themselves! Bravo!!

To wrap up I would like to give a special award :

And the ‘Most Beautiful Bosom’ award goes to…. Marg! (her sculpture – silly)

What is Powertex?

Powertex and FoilWhat is Powertex?what is powertexPowertex is a medium that might be a little hard to adequately explain, but I also feel that if you want to really understand and work with Powertex, it is something that should be taught ‘in real time’  – so either in person, or on a well-produced video.  The videos will be coming 🙂 soon.what is powertex

What is Powertex?

Powertex is a highly versatile product that makes most porous surfaces hard and weather resistant. This amazing product gives form and structure to cloth, paper, wood, gauze, concrete, plush toys, cardboard and more. It is so versatile and forgiving, it makes it easy for a novice crafter to create beautiful sculptures using only a wire armature and an old t-shirt.  It is a liquid medium, ready to use out of the package. Items can be dipped directly into Powertex or brushed on. Once applied, Powertex begins to dry but will remain flexible for hours, depending on room temperature. While it is in this flexible state, Powertex can be draped, folded, pleated and manipulated in countless ways. Once the treated item has been cured, it will be hard and durable. It will also be weather resistant and suitable for use outdoors. (source: PowertexCanada)
