Watercolour Inchies in a Flash!

Creating mini masterpieces called ‘Inchies’ is super fun!

To the uninitiated, these are little pieces of art made on a 1″ square.  They are fun and easy.
The first fun part is decorating your background paper. Paint, draw, spray, decoupage your heart out.
Sidebar: One of my ‘first loves’ of crafting and creating was watercolour. I painted a LOT, and as a result I accumulated many ‘paintings’. I could never bring myself to throw any out so I kept every one (just in case…??) and placed them in a very large potfolio case, lovingly referred to as my ‘Watercolour Graveyard”.
Here is a great way to upcycle, recycle, and repurpose those treasures.

As you will see, I sectioned the paper into 1″ strips. I used a pencil to draw moderate weight lines and then went over the lines with a Conte a Paris white pastel pencil. Smudged it a little. I love the way it defines the borders of the squares.

Use your paper trimmer to cut 1″ squares to create your canvas. My FAV paper trimmer EVER is Fiskars 6″ with guide wire. I’ve had it for ages.

Add an embellishment and write a sentiment, if you wish. A little glitter goes a long way, too 🙂

I sold these a little while back and attached a magnet to the back of each inchie.

It’s that easy!

Have fun with this,
